Ten years of walking for freedom

The Zimbabwe Human Rights Organisation (ZHRO) is ten years old on 31 October 2026. Membership for 2026–2027 falls due the same day. Here is how to renew, and how to help us go further.

What your membership gives you

  • Representation. We take your concerns to the FCDO and to Government through petitions, meetings and our Walk for Freedom events.
  • Your voice in print. Your own articles, published under your name on our platforms.
  • Defence. When the regime tries to discredit our members or our work, we respond and we document it. The latest example is the suspiciously uniform down-voting of every one of our Walk for Freedom articles.
  • Confirmation of your activism. Membership letters that record your genuine, active involvement with ZHRO.
  • Support and advice, whenever you need it.

QR code for paying ZHRO Ltd through SumUp

Scan this code with your phone camera to pay ZHRO Ltd by card for membership, a T-shirt or a donation. Payments are handled securely by SumUp.

You will be asked to enter the amount. In the note box, please give your surname and a code: M for membership, T for T-shirt, D for donation. For example, MOYO M, or MOYO M T if one payment covers both.

On your phone already? Use the payment link instead.

Check the name before you pay. The payment page address should begin pay.sumup.com and it should show ZHRO Ltd as the payee. If you see any other address or name, stop, do not pay, and contact us. Only use the code on this page. We will never send payment details by private message.

Where the money goes

ZHRO Ltd is a company limited by guarantee. Nobody takes a profit, and everything goes back into the work. Our running costs are:

  • Web domains and hosting for our four websites
  • Flickr Pro, our photographic record of every event
  • Our verified Twitter/X account
  • Bulk purchase of Walk for Freedom T-shirts
  • Company accounts and annual filings at Companies House
  • Printing consumables
  • Computer and network equipment: storage, printer, routers and switches
  • Fibre broadband and the ZHRO mobile phone account

Where we are going next

Zimbassy is our platform for giving Zimbabweans in the diaspora the support their own embassy does not. We want to take it further, alongside the campaigning we already do. More than 23,000 people follow our Facebook pages. The reach is there. What we need now is the means.

Help us mark the day

Several members have asked for a meal or gathering on our tenth anniversary. We would love one, but nobody has yet come forward to host or organise it.

If you can offer a venue, or an hour or two to help plan it, please get in touch.
